Diana is going to reply to you with her thoughts, but we agree with you that a dark, subtle, indigenous background would enhance Reinert's coloring. As in the example, Diana feels that a touch of red (the berries) would carry well into the room.
There is nothing I could suggest that would improve upon your work.
